Kindness'

How about having a life full of people with their faces smiling when they see you? How about when you lie on the bed at night a part of you feels so relaxed as the psithurism goes in and out of your body. A part of you feels different because all you did your whole day was just a mere act of kindness. But that act of goodness either saved someone or helped someone out or made someone glad.

I am writing this blog in partial fulfillment of one of the projects of the Amal fellowship. I have performed some small acts of kindness.

  1. Make tea for my mother

In Pakistan, when aged people are free, they do not sit idle, rather they start doing something. People like us, rather me, can sit all day on one place either scrolling social media websites or thinking about the future. The brown parents will either start whitewashing or cleaning each and every corner of the house. The part that is best for them but worst for others is that they want to engage others oblivious of their will. This thing resonates with the everyday situation of my house since the COVID lockdown.

It was Wednesday, the day of war with the dirt and dust at my home. Everything was so messed up. My hair turned grey, and I was stinking awfully. All I needed was an urgent bath even before lunch. After finally having victory over those nano dust particles, a part of me was asking desperately for a cup of tea. At this moment I thought that if I am so exhausted, then what about my mother who worked the most among us. We sometimes sat on the chair near us and even sometimes tried to escape, but she continued working on it. So, as a feeling of good gesture, I made a cup of tea for her.

The tea was fantastic

2. Being a good citizen

We live in a bustling world. Everyone here is in a rush or in a hurry. The roads are mostly straight, but I don’t know what a motorcyclist sees or what his mind perceives, he always rides in a zig-zag way. I was walking back home with my cousin when I saw a brick right in front of the road which I thought might be unsafe. My intuition was forcing me to put the brick sideways, and at the same time this blog also hit my mind, so while I was putting it sideways, my cousin took the following picture:

3. Kind to animal

I heard from my grandparents that a cat changes her home more or less 7 times if I remember exactly. The last week a cat started staying in the garage but left the house early in the morning. Apart from the fact that my early morning these days is not less than 0800 or at maximum 0900 hours. The interesting thing is that she gave birth to three very cute kittens yesterday. I arranged a basket and covered its base with a piece of cloth so that she can feed her babies easily. Their mother has not left them alone for even a second, but I somehow got the privilege of touching them.

Believe me, they were as soft as cotton and as innocent as me:’)

4. Neighborhood

One of my father’s friends owns a garden full of orange trees. He sends us dozens of oranges every year. Just because he has a plethora of oranges, he sends us some of them, in the same way I distribute the oranges among all the houses in my lane. The smiles on those faces make me feel that my worldly tensions and qualms were somehow vacuumed out of my brain for a while.

Roses are red… Violets are blue… But…Oranges are orange

5. Guiding my cousin “Bhai Engineering Na karo”

One of my cousins is in his last year of college. He was applying for a few universities that take entrance exams before board exams, so given that all the evening coaching classes are closed, I thought of helping him. A few days back I was cleaning my bookshelf, I ran into my old college stuff and found those “Entry Test Guideline” books. I gave him my books and guided him to prepare the things accordingly.
